THE IMAGINARIUM is er, shall we say, a hands-on sort of venue. We like to
party. Past years have seen zombie dances and gopher-guts sing-a-longs and
Howard Finster-style artmaking and poetry karaoke. The idea being that in
order to experience something, you GOTTA BE THERE. In the mosh pit, so to
speak. So along with the seminars and movies, we try to bring our program
and theme to life, even if that means sending Uncle Igor to the roof of the
castle to fly a kite in a thunder storm and send a jolt of lightning into the
carcass. Let's see how much fun we can get away with before the angry
villagers show up with their pitchforks and torches!!
2008 SPECIAL EVENTS
OPENING CEREMONIES
(Wed. July 2, 6:30 PM)
This year's British Empire theme begins with the Official Proclamation of the
Imaginarium Raj. You see, we're assuming our natural right to rule the
entire rest of the festival this year, finally. Not for our glory, but for their happiness. And for
Her Majesty. And all that rot. So join us for some
extremely stuffy ceremonies, including the invocation of Divine Sanction, the
raising of the Union Jack, and a spot of tea with crumpets, plus some
delightfully amusing entertainment from the Colonials. What Ho!
CRICKET MATCH (Thurs. July 3, 6:30 PM) Ah, once again, so easy
to scribble into the program in March, but will we really be able to pull
this off by the time July rolls around? Stay tuned as the Imaginarium
continues to live on the edge, pursue short-term solutions that create
long-term headaches (does anybody have any idea how this ruddy game is actually
played?) and we'll make it up as we go along and let History sort it out at the end.
BRITISH INVASION DANCE PARTY
(Sat. July 5, 6:30 PM)
This sort of thing we have had some experience with, actually. We'll put
together a collection of far out music on the record machine, you chaps just
show up ready to shake a leg.
