Parts Per Million (aka PPM) members Jay Ro (Vocals, guitar, violin, synth), Jimmy Jensen (drums), Jimmy Chung (guitar), and Bruce Rarang (bass) exploded onto the Chicago music scene in late 2008, quickly setting themselves as a singular and unique band. Parts Per Million's music rings true with hooky choruses, hard edges, and epic violin passages. It's easy to hear why their audience runs the gamut from the young person just discovering rock music to the more mature, seasoned listener experiencing Part Per Million's distinct combination of energy-driven rock with rolling violin-filled passages and passionate lyrics. Their sound has been compared to that of Smashing Pumpkins, Jimmy Eat World, and Muse, among other diverse influences ranging from Weezer to Deftones.
Contributing to their distinct sound is the varied backgrounds of each member. Frontman Jay, who was classically trained on the piano and violin, has been a featured performer with several symphonic orchestras. Drummer Jimmy J. has played with various symphonic, marching, and jazz bands. Guitarist Jimmy C. has shared the stage with many national acts, including Seether, Buckcherry, and Collective Soul while bassist Bruce has been rocking the local Chicago scene for many years, participating in several/numerous shows, TV tapings, and documentaries. This combination of talents, experiences, and interests has resulted in Parts Per Million: a band unlike others in the rock scene. If you used Microsoft Word or a similiar word processor to write your bio and want to paste it in this field, make sure that file was saved as a text document or plain text file.
