The Volunteer Program Mission:To serve our Lord Jesus Christ by serving Jesus People USA Covenant Church in their work of love in hosting this festival and therefore impacting our culture around us with God’s love.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Cornerstone 2012. Last year, around 12,000 folks came out and as a result, there were hundreds of testimonies of what the Lord had done – people saved, baptized and restored.

Cornerstone 2012 will be July 4th – 7th with the gates opening on Monday, July 2nd at noon. See our Frequently Asked Questions for more general information about the festival.

It is very important for your group to understand that this is a sacrifice of time and labor in order to further the kingdom of God. They will be able to see many of their favorite bands – but that has to be secondary. There are long hours of registering thousands of campers, helping set up chairs, tables and equipment, and grounds clean-up at the beginning or after the event and 4hrs of service each day of the event. (Remember – we ask every group volunteer around 32hrs to get in free.) I will do everything in my power to give you the job & schedule you request but I
cannot promise anything.

We have a very nice Group Volunteer Camp site with trees for all of the volunteering youth groups – just indicate on your application you would like a camp site. We also have volunteer T-Shirts & an awesome Volunteer Appreciation Party with give-a-ways as our way of saying THANK YOU! on the last day of the Festival!

Please consider and pray about having your group serving in this unique ministry project again. Once I receive your application, I will immediately send you a confirmation postcard. I will send your job assignments and times first of June. Please contact me if you have any questions – after you take some time and read the information below. Remember – I can only take around 12 youth groups so SEND YOUR APPLICATION IN EARLY!

The application deadline is May 21st.

WHAT IS IT ALL ABOUT?

Read the comments from past volunteers. Our volunteers are the backbone to the successful running of Cornerstone - no exaggeration.

What do Youth Group Volunteers do any way?
Groups help set-up and take down the Festival - and do some work during the Fest. Groups work in teams of 6-8 youth with one of their leaders as the crew chief. They do everything from registration to cleaning up the grounds to cleaning the showers. This is a REAL service project that no one will forget!

What have other groups experienced as volunteers?
Groups serve year after year because they love the chance to work as a team. The leaders like it because the volunteer schedule gives some structure and focus to five days of Festival.

Will our group get to see the bands we want to?
Out of four days, chances are that you will get to see most of the bands you want to - but remember - there will be no one else to cover your group's spot. You make a firm commitment when you send in the application.

Is there any discount off our tickets?
Yes! If your group works 8 hours two days before or after the Festival AND 4 hours each day of the Festival, you get in free. There are no other camping or event fees.

FACTS and COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • The youth need to be at least high school age (14yr+ with an adult (21yrs or older) supervisor for every 8 youth volunteering.

  • Every member of the group who has agreed to volunteer, and is being admitted at no charge, must volunteer two(2) - 8hr days AND four hours each day

  • Your group will be assigned: (please read carefully)

        1) Either two days at the start of the Fest OR one 8hr day at the start AND one 8 hr day after. These “days” may mean your group might work midnight to 6am to set-up stages and/or 11pm to 6am to take down stage equipment.

        2) In addition, each group must also work 4hrs each day during the Festival (July 4 - 7).

        3) No groups will be assigned to work after 8pm during the programmed dates unless you are taking down stages. All groups will be assigned tasks that are varied and start and stop at different times – depending on the needed tasks

        4) BIG NEED! We can take several groups who can stay after the Festival and clean-up (July 8th, 9th & 10th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day). Therefore you will not need to work during the Fest.

        5) The volunteer jobs during the Fest are mainly trash pick-up, help with outdoor games, cleaning showers, moving equipment around, registration and ‘whatever’. Each group is assigned some grunge jobs and awful times but mainly you will be given jobs and schedules that everybody can live with. You will be sent your schedule the end of May.

  • In exchange for serving, the volunteering youth leaders and youth group members are admitted to the four day Festival at no charge. There are no additional camping or parking fees.

  • We can use small (4 or 5 youth) and large groups (30+). We put everybody in ‘teams’ of around 6-8 (from the same youth group of course) and have them work together for the whole time. Each ‘team’ is supervised by one of the group leaders (a leader needs to be at least college age).

FOOD and SHELTER

  • For food, camping gear, water and anything else you might need during the Fest you are on your own. Volunteer Youth Group Camping
spots can be reserved for you in a nice camp area – just make that section on the application.
RV's can fit in this camp area but there are no RV hook-ups.

  • You will have to contact the Fest office to reserve a hook-up at (773) 989-2087.

  • Food vendors and a small convenience store are on the campgrounds. Come prepared for all types of weather - bring sunscreen, a hat & rain gear and a coat!

  • For more information see our FAQ and Youth Group Page.
