Icons And Images: Imaginarium 2012

Genre, genre everywhere throwing up countless images ready to be invested with meaning.

This year we’ll:

  • investigate if our culture is producing icons anymore or just an endless flood of images
  • examine some of the biggest images out there from Batman, to the Universal Monsters, examining our need for icons and representations.
  • sail the Whedon-verse exploring the popularity of Firefly, Buffy, Angel and the slavish devotion of Joss Whedon's fanbase.
  • explore world building with the Inklings. How did CS Lewis, Dorothy Sayers, Charles Williams and JRR Tolkien differ on their approach to creating fictional worlds and characters?
  • ask if video games are the new dominant medium? If so what do they mediate?

And the Imaginarium film program won't leave you pilgrims feeling blue. From monster cage matches to high art deconstruction you’ll be taken through the mill and have the chance to sing along with our horrible vision.
